Object Exchange 프로토콜은 바이너리 HTTP로 가장 잘 설명이 될 수 있습니다. OBEX는 ad-hoc 무선 링크에 최적화 되었으며 파일, 사진, 캘린더 항목 (vCal), 명함 (vCard) 같은 모든 종류의 오브젝트를 교환하는데 사용될 수 있습니다.

OBEX는 Palm Pilot 같은 PDA와 Ericsson R320, Siemens S25, Siemens S45, Siemens ME45, Nokia NM207, Nokia 9110 Communicator 같은 휴대 전화에 내장되 었습니다.
