ReadStat è uno strumento a riga di comando e una libreria C con licenza MIT per leggere file da popolari pacchetti per statistica. I formati di dati gestiti includono:

 - SAS: SAS7BDAT (file binario) e XPORT (file transport);
 - Stata: DTA (file binario) versioni 104-119;
 - SPSS: POR (portable file), SAV (file binario) e ZSAV (binario
   compresso).

I formati di metadati gestiti includono:

 - SAS: SAS7BCAT (file di catalogo) e .sas (file di comandi);
 - Stata: .dct (file di dizionario);
 - SPSS: .sps (file di comandi).

C'è anche il supporto in scrittura per tutti i formati di dati, ma non per i formati di metadati.

Questo pacchetto contiene gli strumenti a riga di comando readstat ed extract_metadata.
