python-oracledb è un modulo di estensione per il linguaggio di programmazione Python che permette ai programmi Python di connettersi a Oracle Database. È il nuovo rilascio principale con nuovo nome del popolare driver cx_Oracle.
Il modulo è conforme alla specifica Python Database API 2.0 con un numero considerevole di aggiunte e un paio di omissioni minori.
Le librerie client di Oracle NON sono necessarie quando ci si connette usando la modalità "Thin", che è quella predefinita, ma è richiesto Oracle Database Server 12.1 o successivo, che è stato inizialmente rilasciato nel luglio 2013.
Questo pacchetto installa il driver della modalità "Thin" per Python 3.
