notify2 fornisce un'interfaccia Python per il sistema di notifiche di Freedesktop, che permette ai programmi di visualizzare informazioni all'utente in maniera non invadente. Le notifiche sono inviate attraverso DBus ad un demone di notifica che è responsabile della loro presentazione all'utente.
notify2 è pensato come rimpiazzo di pynotify (pacchetto python-notify) e la sua interfaccia è in gran parte copiata da lì, anche se non è un clone completo.
Questa è la versione per Python 2 del pacchetto.
