traduttore da DVI a testo semplice

CatDVI traduce un file DVI (TeX Device Independent) in un file di testo semplice leggibile. Mira a generare un output di alta qualità che riproduca tutti gli aspetti del file DVI nei limiti del mezzo di output. CatDVI usa internamente Unicode e può produrre in output ASCII, ISO Latin 1 e UTF-8 Unicode.

CatDVI può essere usato per vedere in anteprima documenti TeX su display a cella di carattere come i terminali tradizionali e gli emulatori di terminale. È anche possibile usarlo per generare documenti di testo da sorgenti TeX, a patto che il documento sia scritto tenendo a mente questa conversione.

CatDVI è in fase di sviluppo e perciò incompleto. È tuttavia piuttosto utile anche nella forma attuale e, per alcuni aspetti, è già migliore di alcuni dei suoi competitori.

CatDVI richiede che i file TFM per tutti i tipi di carattere usati nei file DVI di input siano installati o possano essere generati da kpathsea.
